Our focus is on you, and your health.
We could talk forever about the theories and philosophy underlying Oriental medicine, the mysterious ways that chi (energy) moves through your body, but…
Our mission is to make you feel better, and acupuncture is just one of the best tools ever invented.
We will never charge you extra for an initial consultation.
Of course it is a necessary first step, but we don’t think you should pay more for it.
You won’t be asked to pay for acupuncture treatments in advance.
We think it is important that you make an active choice to continue your treatment program each time you are scheduled for a visit. If you (or we) decide at any time that the treatments are not going to be effective, we will encourage you to seek another practitioner or treatment modality.
You won’t be treated by assistants.
We believe that each step of an acupuncture treatment is integral to the experience and should be performed by your acupuncturist. You won’t feel rushed; we take all the time necessary for maximal benefit of a treatment.
You won’t be asked to take bad-tasting herbal formulas.
Herbal therapy is certainly effective for some disorders but we practice primarily Japanese-influenced acupuncture, which relies very little on herbs.
We don’t do deep needling.
Again, we are influenced by Japanese theory, which holds that hair-thin needles superficially inserted can be just as effective. Some patients don’t even feel them.
You won’t want to leave!
We have worked hard to create an environment that surrounds you with a sense of calm and well-being. Definitely not like a doctor’s office. Not quite like a spa either, but definitely a haven from the pressures of the city and the daily rush. Perhaps it’s the music or the fragrant teas, the artwork or the view of the river, but many patients tell us they would like to come for an extra hour just to sit in the waiting room! And we are right here on South Main Street, a five minute stroll from downtown Providence.
